Trauma-Informed DBT Group for Emotion Regulation in Vancouver

Join us for a 20 week Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills group program that blends essential DBT skills—including Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation—with added insights into trauma awareness.

Led by Emotion Wise Founder April Griffin, MSW RSW RCC our DBT group team is made up of experienced DBT trained trauma-informed therapists.

Our Trauma-Informed DBT Group is faithful to the DBT group model while incorporating practical grounding and mindfulness tools from EMDR and other evidence-based trauma therapies.

 

You will learn all of the core DBT skills with a well-rounded and trauma-sensitive approach to emotional wellness and healing.

Whether you're new to DBT or looking to deepen your skills, this space is designed to support growth, resilience, and self-compassion.

Our highly supportive and informative DBT group is available to people in Vancouver and across BC.

When does the DBT group meet?

 

Tuesday evenings virtually from 5:30pm-7pm (PST).

Additional groups may be added.

What is the structure of the Group?

The group starts with a 2 week DBT foundation module where we teach mindfulness and intro to DBT. It is followed by three 6 week modules on : Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.  This group covers all of the essential DBT skills in 20 weeks.

What is the cost of the DBT group?

Each session costs $80/Session for a total cost of $1600 for the full 20 weeks. A deposit of $160 is required prior to the start of the course and a valid credit card is required to be on file.  You are responsible for the total cost of the group, including missed sessions.  You may withdraw from the group 2 weeks prior to the start of the next 6 week module.

This group may be eligible for funding through First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) .

Who will facilitate the Trauma-Informed DBT Group?

This will be facilitated by a DBT trained therapist on our team with over 5 years experience assisted by an Intern or another team member.

Who can enrol in the Trauma-Informed DBT group?

This group is open to adults aged 18 and up in BC. If you are outside of BC please inquire directly. 

 

It is geared towards people experiencing emotional regulation issues who have experienced trauma. You may have a diagnosis of ADHD, PTSD, BPD, Bipolar, or Anxiety, however no formal diagnosis is required.  An intake screening is required prior to enrolment.

 

Some participants may be asked to have an individual therapist alongside their group enrolment.  We have a variety of DBT trained therapists on our team who can support, or you may work with an external provider.
