We are committed to providing accessible and effective mental health counselling in Vancouver to meet the diverse needs of clients from all walks of life.
Anger gets a bad reputation, we think of it as a dangerous emotion. Often our angry reactions can cause fractures in our relationships and difficulties in our workplaces.
At Emotion Wise Counselling we work with you to understand your own anger - where it comes from, how it makes sense and how to navigate feelings of anger.
Moving to a new country whether you came as a child, a student or as a refugee can create unique challenges in your life and changes to your sense of self.
We work with people who are struggling with the acculturation process, as well as those who have experienced trauma either in their country of origin, in the migration process and/or in adapting to life in Vancouver, Canada.
We provide a space to talk through these experiences as well as provide trauma counselling to help you find healing from your past. Our counsellors are often covered by your benefit plans including the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) for Refugees.
We help people struggling with all types of substance use issues including: alcohol dependence, marijuana use, smoking, opoids, and amphetamines. We work to understand what factors have led up to the addiction and work to build on your existing coping skills and support network to reduce or stop substance use, based on your goals.
Our counsellors have experience walking alongside of you towards recovery helping find peer support, local treatment programs and resources to support you in your recovery.
We are honoured to work with First Nations clients all over BC virtually and in-person FNHA mental wellness counselling in Vancouver, BC. Our counsellors are experienced in working with Indigenous communities and are committed to provide counselling from a lens of decolonization and cultural humility.
At Emotion Wise Counselling we are committed to providing inclusive and affirming services for Queer and Trans clients who are seeking counselling for complex trauma.
On our team all of our counsellors are supportive and accepting, experienced in working with 2SLGBTQI+ clients, with some counsellors specialized and with lived experience with a Queer identity.
At Emotion Wise Counselling we provide a space to process and heal from spiritual and religious abuse. Our counsellors have worked with people from all different religious backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender in their healing from religious and spiritual trauma.

Bipolar disorder is characterized by experiences of intense shifts in mood including episods of increased, elevated mood and energy alternating with periods of low depressive mood.

Struggling with emotion regulation is extremely painful to live with and can result in challenges in interpersonal relationships, and difficulty self-regulating and self-soothing when triggered. Many folks who struggle with emotion regulation have experienced complex trauma, and may have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Bipolar disorder, ADHD and Anxiety.
