Frequently Asked Questions About Counselling at Emotion Wise

Finding the right fit for mental health counselling can be difficult.  We try to make it easier for you to find psychological support locally in Vancouver and BC-Wide by answering your common questions.

  • $150 - $170 per 50 minute session (fees vary between counsellors), for sessions of different length please inquire directly.​

    We offer a limited sliding scale available on a case by case basis based on financial need. Please inquire directly.

    Many health benefits plans will reimburse you for counselling services. Contact your plan provider before your first session to ensure that your plan covers a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

    The cost of seeing a Registered Social Worker is eligible to be deducted as a medical practitioners for the purpose of the medical expenses tax credit through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

    April Griffin and Suvi Teigen are approved providers for the First Nations Health Authority Mental Wellness Program (FNHA). Learn more about our FNHA Mental Wellness Counselling.

    April Griffin and Mila Loskutova provide counselling with the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), additional top-up fees may apply in addition to the covered fee.

  • The number of sessions you attend will depend on your counselling goals.  

    After your first session you can discuss your hopes for counselling with you therapist and they can recommend a length of time depending on what issue you are working on.

    We recommend meeting more frequently at the outset of the therapy and spacing out therapy as your meet your goals.

     

    For childhood trauma and emotional regulation issues a 4-6 month commitment is recommended.

  • Our therapists hold sessions virtually/online and in Vancouver.

    It is accessible to clients from Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster by major bus routes and is close to the Stadium Skytrain Station.

  • Our counsellors each set their own schedule and are generally with various availability throughout the week, with some counsellors available evenings and weekends.​
